- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - /// it all started out as amusement, watching as his younger step sister, marley, hauled her bags out of the house and down the driveway to the black suv that awaited them. at first, it was a sight to see and it was pretty entertaining watching her resist his help – he could’ve easily carried out the bags and had them all loaded and ready to go. but instead, he had watched her lug bag after bag and he could only hope each one was her last. it wasn’t like he was just a lazy jerk that would rather stand around and let everyone else do the work, cause that wasn’t true at all. he had easily slipped his bags in the back just hours before and now he was simply just waiting on marley. if it were anyone else, his grandmother, cousin, even a random person on the street, he’d happily offer some kind of help. but marley wasn’t any of the above. in fact, when it came to her the most he offered was a smile – if that. but as time slowly crept on his emotions grew to boredom and now it was annoyance as the boy laid on the grass, his knees bent with his arms crossed over his face. “come on marley, you’re camping. there is no luxury to camping no matter how hard you try.” in the back of his mind, wes could only imagine what made up the inside of those bags. they were just camping, what all did she need to bring? she probably pakced her own personal tent just so she wouldn’t have to share one with him – which actually didn’t seem like a bad idea at the moment.
/// the sun was slowly starting to set and he just wanted to get on the road – although he wasn’t exactly overly excited to be spending four days camping. It was some ridiculously ‘new’ tradition that their parents thought up after they had gotten married. They thought it would be a good way for them to ‘bond’ although in wesley’s mind it was just a way to test how long they could go without killing each other. hearing the sound of a car door shut caused his eyes to light up as he lifted his arms to see marley climbing into the front passenger seat. “finally.” he muttered as he pushed himself up and off the ground, feeling around in his pockets for the car keys as he made his way around the front end of the car, coming to the driver’s side door. he climbed in and shut the door in one swift movement before his eyes fell on the brunette sitting next to him. he couldn’t help but chuckle, thinking about just how ‘fun’ this camping trip would be. “just think, maybe if we’re lucky, you’’ll get lost and we will finally be a happy family.” he said jokingly, although it wasn’t such a bad idea – was it? "im joking” he added on, shaking his head to himself. he could only imagine what was to come of the two hour drive the two of them had to endure followed by four days of dirt, trees, his mom and of course marley.

------today was the day marley had been dreading since her father had first brought it up. camping? like really? camping was her worst enemy. she never liked it. nor did she want to go anywhere with her step-brother wes. marley sat on her bed as she threw clothes after clothes into her suitcase. she didn't know what she was going to need. she had only been camping once! and that was when she was litte and she didn't pack - her mom did. marley finally nodded her head with approval of her suitcase and sat on it to zip it up. some would say she was going alittle overboard..but not to her. besides, this would piss her dad off. he always said that marley needed to step out of her world and enjoy the fresh air. she had no idea what that was suppose to mean but as usual she just nodded her head like she cared. the not so strong girl carried her two huge bags down the stairs. struggling just a little bit, she managed to open the front door and shove the thing into the trunk. as she was heading back into the house she could hear wes complaining. "i don't care. i'm bringing what i want. and you will deal with it." she shouted back at him as she picked up her final bag. sorry that it was a crime to be overpacked, she thought in her mind. wes was the perfect child, and marley hated that. in her final bag, she had packed all of her personal items. she had sneaked in a hairdryer, straigtener, her makeup. she was camping for four days there was no way she could be without any of those things. there had to be a bathroom somewher, showers even. there was no way she was going to last this trip. pushing her last bag into the back of the svu, marley sighed. she was exhausted just from lifting all of her heavy bags. marley slammed the trunk shut and smirked.

[/size]arley really didn't understand why her dad had to leave a day early. was there really a reason for this? they were just leaving the two of them together for bonding, it was completely obvious. marley did not want to bond with wes. no way. walking over to the passenger side, marley got in and slammed that shut too. it wasn't her car, so it wasn't her problem she thought. she rolled her eyes when he got into the car complaining about her taking too long. she could tell that this trip was terrible. there was no doubt about it. having to share a tent with him, having to have family bonding time - this was just going to be a piece of cake! except not. marley put one of her headphones in her ear, not being able to stand the stuff he called music playing. marley wished she would've atleast brought a magazine to look about, but naturally she had forgotten that. but she had a enough things to do. they were so dumb for going in october. it was going to be cold! something else she dreaded. her mouth dropped open when she hear his idea. "yeah yeah, you're soo funny. i'm laughing so hard. can't you tell? " she smirked. "or we can get lucky and you fall off the huge cliff that's here! i can see it noww..being an only child again." she chuckled as she saw the image in her head, immeaditely laughing afterwards. marley looked out the window and put her feet on dashboard. all she could see were trees, and more trees. she just wanted to get the camp site, so she could make wes set up the tent and go to bed. there was nothing better to do. marley was starting to get bored of this car ride already. in her mind, a genius thought came up. she smiled, a mischievous one. "are we there yet?" she questioned, feeling like a kid again. she use to do this to her parents all of the time when she was younger.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - /// leave if felt the need to. but on this trip, the most he could do maybe sit in the car for an hour to get away – which didn’t seem like that bad of an idea. even though he was older and supposedly more mature, somehow marley could bring out the little kid in him, the two of them going back and forth until one of them walked away. it was just them, how they were, how’d they probably always be. keeping one hand on the wheel, he leaned back with his foot steadily pressing on the gas, passing trees, houses, cars, more trees. out of the corner of his eye he could see marley’s expression change, followed by the sound of her voice which filled the car. he glanced at her and simply put on a fake smile at her words. “aren’t you just the sweetest thing. you sure have a way with words." he said sarcastically as he switched hands, moving just slightly in his seat. “some poor man is going to have to marry you one day. then probably voluntarily jump off a cliff.” he shook his head at the thought, pitying the thought of any man being stuck with marley for the rest of his life.
/// time was slowly passing and the hour they had been on the road felt like a lifetime, a lifetime that wesley could’ve easily lived without. in fact, half of the things he’s parents made him do, he would’ve been perfectly fine without. the parties, the dinners, the trips to whatever ridiculous places they thought up, this camping trip. it was october – who even camped in october? in the midst of all his thoughts, marley’s voice broke through causing him to glance her direction. “does it look it? but we would be if you haven’t packed up your lifetime and more. ” he replied simply before reaching for the radio dial, turning the volume up to block out whatever other nonsense the girl thought up. the road before them was dark, the only light coming from the moon which shone through the trees above. it was some half-assed, backwoods dirt road his parents told him to take as a short cut, that would eventually lead them out to a main road. the road was rocky and every other second he could feel the suv rocking from hitting another hole in the road – great, it’d do wonder for the car axels. but just then, he felt the car wheel jerk which caused the car to swerve, the movements followed by a loud almost popping noise. Instantly he pressed down on the break making the car screech to a stop, dirt and dust blowing in waves around the vehicle. /// they had just gotten flat. a flat tire on some dark road that he’d now have to fix while marley complained. great. this trip was awesome. putting the car in park in one frustrated movement, he didn’t even look at her as he pushed the door open, climbing out and stepping onto the rocky dirt road. leaving the door wide open, he scaled the car, eyeing each tire before seeing the right front end tire was completely totaled. “awesome. look, your luggage popped the tire, princess.” he teased loudly enough for her to hear but in not trying to be funny way. wesley sighed as he crossed his arms over his chest, wondering just how long this would take and if he could even get a service man out there. he didn’t even know where they were!
